Hey Avatar!

Hey there Second Life or OpenSim Avatar! Welcome to the big wide virtual world. These video tutorials should help you get started right and hopefully learn good habits early as well as secrets others haven’t learned after years in SL. Each has an individual blog post, but here they are all linked in one place and with their descriptions for easier reference.

Feel free to link to them and use them however you wish, all are released under the Creative Common Attribution license.

I am new to SL and have learned to move around and teleport but one thing that I need help with is how to step up on platforms and steps? Most of the time I just walk forward and no problem when I go up steps or platforms but there are sometimes where I just run into the step.
I end up flying to get up the step.
Can you give me a tip on how to do this?
    Thanks!

  5. Hi Yvette and welcome to SL! You need to jump. The easiest way is while moving forward holding double-tap the up key (PageUp or e). This will cause you to jump rather than start flying. Hope this helps.

use the jump or walk to the side of the step and then attempt moving forward.
